But not today: a Cronenberg movie in a bottle

Filippo Sorcinelli’s scents have a deep connection with visual arts. The whole UNUM Collection, to me, has the same emotional leitmotif as Lars von Trier’s movies. A strong and deep melancholia, a dark vision of reality and human nature expressed through scents.

This collection has a lot of fragrances that get their inspiration from movies, and _but not today_ is inspired by “The silence of the lambs” by Jonathan Demme.

It walks on the same steps as Clarice Sterling’s human connection with Hannibal Lecter. It opens with green and alluring artemisia notes surrounded by bright citrusy notes. It reminds me of a skin smell, that feels like the first steps of seduction.

Then, this first clean impression uncovers its real perverse and visceral nature. A human warm blood accord that resembles the sensation of cutting through chest skin to feel a heart beating in our hands.

It’s a shocking image that Filippo Sorcinelli paints with sophisticated elegance, as an artistic exposition of human flesh.

That’s the same idea behind David Cronenberg’s last movie, Crimes of the future. A story about a world where the artistic exposition of human flesh symbolizes a new way to see inner beauty.

But not today feels like cutting through skin to enjoy a new kind of beauty, the human flesh perverse beauty.

But not today, to me, can be defined as a “horror fragrance”. A new kind of fragrance, that tingles our deepest and hidden thoughts.

A real artistic experience.
